Philippine police gets better weapons, training

After the bloody Manila bus hijacking incident in 23 August, the Philippine police improves its equipments and training to better deal with hostage crisis and similar incidents, said Philippine National Police General Raul Bacalzo on Friday.
The upgrading of the SWAT equipments and training was made possible with the PhP2 billion (US$45.7 million) budget for the year 2011 to enhance the cops' capability and skills.
The general added that they have started re-training and reorganizing the police.
SWAT personnel will be given another chance to pass where many failed the test.
The Manila hostage drama--that killed eight Hong Kong tourists--served as an eye-opener to enhance the capability of the police.
