Cory Aquino one of TIME's 25 Most Powerful Women of the Past Century

TIME Magazine named the Philippines' late President Corazon Aquino as one of the most powerful women of the 20th century.
As Asia's first female leader, she was recognized for "unifying force against the autocratic President Ferdinand Marcos" and restoring democracy in the Philippines through peaceful means.
Aquino was the 11th President of the Republic of the Philippines having been in office between 25 February 1986 and 30 June 1992.
Tita Cory, as she is fondly called, is the mother of incumbent President Benigno Aquino III.
She was also TIME Magazine's Woman of the Year in 1986. She died in 2009 at the age of 76 due to colon cancer.
