Filipino Asian Games medalists to receive prize money

To pay tribute to the Filipino athletes who brought honor to the country by winning in the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, the Philippine Sports Commission will shell out a total of PhP9.5 million (US$217,118) to the victorious athletes.
Three gold medalists (bowling, boxing, pool) will receive PhP1 million (US$22,854) each.
Three silver medalists (billiards, boxing, golf) will take home PhP500,000 (US$11,427) apiece.
Nine bronze medalists (bowling, boxing, dancesport pair, taekwondo jins, wushu) will each get PhP100,000 (US$2,285).
Five Grandmasters will each receive PhP200,000 (US$4,571) for bagging the silver medal for team event.
The respective coaches and trainers will be rewarded a total of PhP3.1 million (US$70,849).
Of the 36 participating Asian countries, the Philippines ranked 16th (medal total) and 19th (gold medals) in the recently held Games in China.
