Fire leaves hundreds homeless for Xmas in Manila

Tragic Christmas. After the deadly fire accident in a budget hotel that killed 16 in northern Philippines, two incidents happened in Manila and Muntinlupa in a span of 12 hours that left hundreds of people homeless.
A fire broke out in a shanty village in Baseco Compund, Tondo, Manila. Authorities said that the fire began at about 6:20 a.m. The incident reached the 5th alarm. Officials declared fire out after 40 minutes.
The fire blazed at least 100 homes that was occupied by 100 families. There were no reported injuries.
Another fire razed in Barangay (Village) Cupang in Muntinlupa City, south of Manila, which started at around 7:20 p.m. The fire was put off at around 1 a.m. The blaze destroyed at least 500 shanty houses. An estimated 2,000 residents were affected.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the incident. The police have taken a man for questioning who was believed to be responsible for the inferno.
