Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is not dead, Rumors are false

A close friend of Aretha Louise Franklin belied reports that the Queen of Soul is dead.

She is "home, alive and recovering," according to a source of Freep.com who requested anonymity.

The 68-year-old Detroit singer was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas since early December.

News of her demise started circulating over the Internet, particularly on Twitter, on Monday.

Other false celebrity reports in the past were Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman.

Ms. Franklin has been going in and out of hospital in Detroit lately. She has cancelled all concerts and minimized her public appearances.

The Soul Queen singer is also famous for jazz, blues, R&B and gospel music. TheRolling Stone magazine named her No. 1 on its list as The Greatest Singers of All Time.
