As I've always advised fellow international scholars when I was in Japan, foreigners should act with dignity and respect in their host country. Anything bad that they do in a foreign land would reflect not only upon themselves and family, but more importantly, to their country as well. In effect, foreigners should behave as ambassadors of their home country. The article that follows is an unfortunate story.
American arrested in Japan for child porn
FUKUOKA, Japan, March 15 (UPI) -- The American head of an English language school in southern Japan has been indicted on child pornography charges involving his students, officials said.
Police seized hundreds of videotapes and photographs from the Fukuoka home of the 69-year-old, whose name has not been released, Kyodo News reported Monday.
The material included images of dozens of his elementary-age girl students, police said.
The man was arrested in January on suspicion of committing lewd acts on his students, but was later released. He was arrested again and indicted in March, Kyodo News reported.
Living and teaching in Japan for decades, he allegedly took students to his home with promise of private English lessons, officials said.
