Chilean miners to grace CNN heroes tribute

The now famous 33 Chilean miners arrived in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday morning for their first group tour to the US.
They will attend the "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute" on Thanksgiving evening, 25 November.
Upon arrival at the airport, the Chilean miners signed flags for their fans. They were trapped for 69 days at 700 meters (2,300 feet) deep in a mining site in northern Chile on 5 August.
The CNN organizers invited them because they became symbols of human resilience and endurance to which they put the people together.
The CNN Hero of the Year is an annual event that selects the 10 persons from over 10,000 nominations. One hero will be selected based on an online poll.
The past CNN Heroes were: Efren PeƱaflorida (Philippines, 2009), Lidia Schaefer (USA and Ethipia, 2008), and Flavio Canto (Brazil, 2007).
