PHL seeks OFW evacuation through Japan

In connection with the mounting tension between North Korea and South Korea, the Philippine government is asking the Japanese government to allow Filipino evacuees to go through Japan if the situation worsens between the warring countries that may need the evacuation of Filipinos.
It would be difficult to directly evacuate the over 50,000 documented Filipinos in South Korea, presidential spokeman said. It may be vital to seek the help of a nearer and friendly country, he said in Inquirer.
Radio reports said there are nine Filipinos in North Korea.
The Philippine government is currently reviewing the contingency plans especially the movement of the evacuation. No word yet from the government of Japan.
