Bank of America stops WikiLeaks payments

The Bank of America Corp. announced on Friday that it is declining to process payments for the whistle-blowing site WikiLeaks.
The said bank is the latest financial institution after MasterCard, Paypal and Visa Europe to cut ties with the controversial non-profit group.
A bank statement said that based upon their reasonable belief, WikiLeaks may be engaged in activities that are inconsistent with their internal policies for processing payments.
In turn, WikiLeaks urged Bank of America customers to stop doing business with the bank.
In Twitter, WikiLeaks said, "We ask that all people who love freedom close out their accounts at Bank of America."
The group added, "Does your business do business with Bank of America? Our advise is to place your funds somewhere safer."
MasterCard have faced attacks by hacktivist supporters of the whistle-blowing site founded by the Australian national Julian Assange, who was set free yesterday by a court in London after paying bail.
In an interview last year, Assange said that he had in possession the hard drive of Bank of America. He told Forbes magazine that he planned to leak information on a major financial institution by early 2011, which drew speculations that the Charlotte-based bank is the next target.
It is noticeable that the ways to send money support to WikiLeaks has been decreasing over a span of a few weeks. Here are the few remaining institutions that will receive your support:
