10 killed as building's scaffolding collapses in Philippines


UPDATE: 10 were conformed dead as od 14:00 27 January, according to radio reports.


DZMM said that at least ten construction workers were reported to have died while an unknown number of people were feared dead or hurt when a platform of Eton Towers collapses in the financial capital of the Philippines on midday 27 January.
Police chief Froilan Bonifacio said that the accident happened at the building's construction site on the corner of Paseo De Roxas and Gallardo Streets in Makati City.
The scaffolding at the 32nd floor of the building fell on the seventh floor according to Bonifacio.
Rescue teams were sent to the construction site to recover the bodies of the victims.
The victims were sent to various nearby hospitals like the Ospital ng Makati.
Makati Mayor Jun jun Binay arrived early on the scene and confirmed that ten workers were confirmed dead.
In a radio interview, Binay said one of the ten victims was successfully resuscitated.
Two days ago, five people were killed in a bus blasting incident in the same city.
