Student shoots fiancée, self inside a Manila university

Jealousy prompted a 17-year-old freshman political science student to shoot and hurt his girlfriend yesterday at 11:20 inside room 310 of Universidad de Manila and then shot himself with a .38 caliber revolver.
Both the alleged teenage gunman and his classmate-cum-love-interest whose names were withheld due to age, are in critical condition in two separate hospitals in the capital city, said the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Son of a Manila policeman, the alleged trigger man sustained gunshot wound in the head and is confined at the Philippine General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the teenage girlfriend is under close monitoring at the Manila Doctors Hospital after having allegedly been shot in the face. She is the chair of the youth organization (Sangguniang Kabataan) in her village.
Initial investigation by the police showed that the alleged shooter approached the victim who was with her friends inside the room demanding a dialogue.
The victim wanted a break up, which irritated him. Due to jealousy, the suspect pulled out the gun from his clutch bag, and shot the victim on her face.
The authorities are also investigating the school for possible administrative responsibility due to alleged operational negligence.
